Homeless Death Memorial Service
and portraits of two of the homeless who died on the streets in the year 2000. On December 21, 2000, in San Francisco, the annual candlelight memorial was held for the homeless who died in the past year on the streets. This year the reading of names of the dead included 183 people who had died. The event is sponsored by the San Francisco Coalition for the Homeless. The data on homeless deaths is gathered annually by the San Francisco Department of Health.
