Since the bombing of the World Trade Center on September 11, 
U.S. flags fly on every corner. 
About 60,000 Afghanis live in the Bay Area, 
most near Fremont and Hayward.

has been doing a booming business in flags, God Bless America T-shirts, 
and Bin Laden WANTED shirts. 
Arif came from northern Afghanistan 11 years ago. 
He is a U.S. resident. 







Khamosh Homayoun, owner of Pamir Food Market, waits for customers. 
Homayoun, who left Afghanistan 20 years ago and is now a U.S. citizen, 
says business has been very slow since September 11.
